Elisei Stefanescu holds a First Class Bachelor's Degree in Music and a Master's Degree in Choral Conducting. He studied Piano Performance with Katharine Lam and Choral Conducting with Paul Spicer at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.

In November 2020, he has been selected as the winner of the Marjorie Hazlehurst Piano Award for 2019/20, awarded to a BMus4 piano student whose Major Project demonstrates the greatest imagination, enterprise and highest level of performance.

More biography:

Elisei Stefanescu is a Romanian conductor and pianist. He started studying piano at the age of eleven. His connections with choral conducting started when he was fifteen years old and joined the Evangelical Choir from Bucharest.

 

In 2014, 2015 and 2019 he participated in an ‘Intensive Choral Conducting and Vocal Performance course’ organized by Jubilate in Romania with Ken Tucker, Emanuel Balaceanu and Ruben Muresan. In July 2019 and 2022 the Jubilate foundation invited Elisei to participate as choral conductor, piano teacher and vocal ensemble teacher in the Summer Youth Music Camp, in Sibiu, Romania.

For the last seven years, Elisei has been living in the UK where he took the initiative to form two choirs. In November 2016 he initiated the Emmaus Church Choir in Birmingham. At the moment, he conducts the Emmaus Choir from Coventry which he formed in October 2018 and with whom he had concerts and recordings in different cities in the UK such as Leicester, Loughborough, Coventry and Birmingham.
